Rajesh Madhavan’s first film as a director, Pennum Porattum, will premiere on Netflix on March 13. The streaming platform secured its rights well before the theatrical release—a rare development for Malayalam films these days.
Written by Ravisankar, the social satire tackles mob justice and moral policing through a story filled with chaos. Its cast consists mostly of newcomers, many selected from the Palakkad villages where filming took place. Sabin Uralikandy handled the cinematography, Chaman Chakko edited the film, and Dawn Vincent composed the music.
Pennum Porattum premiered at the 56th International Film Festival of India before being screened at the 30th International Film Festival of Kerala. Santhosh T Kuruvilla produced the film under the STK Frames banner, in association with Binu George Alexander.
